What We Do
Alton Community Care is one of over 100 voluntary organisations across Hampshire dedicated to the provision of help to people in their locality. We operate within strict guidelines provided by Hampshire’s Good Neighbours Network and the legislation in place to protect vulnerable people.
We are a team of around 60 volunteers who receive requests by telephone and undertake to match these with offers of help from our qualified drivers. We provide transport for people unable to drive themselves and who may need a lift to non-emergency appointments with their doctor, dentist, hospital, etc. With the support of our team of volunteers we hope that we help people to remain independent in their own homes.
We are staffed entirely by unpaid volunteers, who are reimbursed only for expenses and mileage at cost. All our volunteers are checked by the Disclosure and Barring Service.
